Bowmore® Distillery Unveils $120,000 Arc-54 Single Malt Digital Release

Setting a new industry standard, Bowmore is integrating digital technologies to enhance the whisky drinking experience and ownership

Islay, Scotland, 5th November 2025 - Today, Bowmore, Islay’s oldest licensed distillery, has announced its remarkably rare ARC-54 single malt whisky is available to buy through the purchase of an exclusive Non-Fungible Token (NFT). The release includes an innovative integrated digital offering, making it a must-have centrepiece for whisky cabinets, both physically and online.

Aimed at super-premium whisky connoisseurs with a passion for digital experiences, Bowmore is combining blockchain, NFT and Near Field Communication (NFC) technology for the first time, to enhance the drinking occasion and spirit ownership.

The proof-of-ownership NFT facilitates access to the tokenised Bowmore ARC-54, together with an integrated NFC chip on the neck of the physical bottle. In addition to verifying authenticity, the chip will register when the bottle has been opened, inviting the buyer to claim a proof-of-consumption NFT. This NFT can be showcased in their digital library on blockchain and unlocks additional rewards, with exclusive brand experiences. The use of this offering builds on the recent collaboration with Avalanche, a decentralized Layer 1 platform, which tokenised bottles of Bowmore 12-Year-Old and 30-Year-Old.

Bottle No.128 of the highly celebrated 54-Year-Old single malt, chosen in reference to 128-bit computing, is available to purchase using stablecoin, or US dollars.

Distilled in 1968, ARC‑54 has matured in the distillery’s legendary No.1 Vaults for over half a century. Presented in a striking hand‑blown decanter, this multidimensional expression offers layers of flavour and embodies generations of distilling wisdom, with all Bowmore single malts aging like no other.

Priced at $120,000 (USD/stablecoins), equivalent to £90,000, and available for collection in Singapore or London, the owner of bottle No.128 will also receive a bespoke luxury experience on Islay, including exclusive after-hours entry to the distillery, access to ultra-rare expressions, fine dining and a private cruise.

Kirsteen Beeston, senior global marketing director, Scotch & Irish, Suntory Global Spirits says: “As one of the most collectable single malts in the world, Bowmore is leading the way to also offer this collectable online experience. While Bowmore ARC-54 is a coveted asset, we also encourage people to enjoy and share this extraordinary whisky. With this technology, the opened bottle becomes a new chapter in digital form, not the end of the experience."

The digital offering has been developed in-house by Suntory Holdings using proprietary technology and is patent pending. It represents a significant step in Suntory’s ambition to integrate blockchain technology globally and across its portfolio, offering digital experiences and further development of super-premium whisky verification.

Sebastian Zilliacus, managing director, Web3 strategy, Suntory business expert APAC, says: “By harnessing our proprietary technology and combining blockchain, NFC and NFT capabilities, we aim to offer a full customer experience transformation. This includes an integrated journey, linking digital ownership, the physical bottle, distillery experience and proof of consumption. This approach blends experience, innovation, and status in a way never offered before in the whisky industry.” Stablecoins are digital currencies designed to maintain a fixed value by pegging each coin to a real-world asset, with one stable coin equal to $1 USD. This stability allows collectors to purchase Bowmore’s ARC‑54 without the price fluctuations common in other crypto currencies, ensuring a secure and predictable transaction.

ARC-54 No.128 is available to purchase from today via nft.suntory.com/arc-54*.
