Single Malt Scottish Whisky from the Caperdonich Distillery
This page refers to Scottish Single Malts from the Caperdonich Distillery. The Caperdonich Distillery was founded in 1989, but sadly closed in 2002, two years after being bought from Seagram, the new owners Pernod Ricard decided to close the distillery, which was a massive shame at the time and still is. It is the sister distillery for Glen Grants which of course is better known.
There are a few single malts on this page for the distillery, but over the years most of the output was used for blends like Passport, Something Special and Queen Anne. But the malts that have been made are of the highest quality 'Speysiders' and should be tried if you get the chance.

"70cl / 53.1% / Gordon & MacPhail - Established in 1898 under the initial name of Glen Grant No.2, Caperdonich distillery experienced a brief period of production until it ceased operations in 1902. However, in response to the increasing demand for Glen Grant malt, it was reopened in 1965, before closing for good in 2002. This Speyside single malt was matured in a refill sherry butt and proffers notes of blackberries, milk chocolate, orchard fruit and toasted hazelnuts."

Tomintoul Distillery Tour
Planet Whiskies had a fantastic trip up to the Speyside Whisky region of Scotland in February 2024 to visit Angus Dundee Distillers Tomintoul Distillery within the Cairngorms National Park. Then, after the distillery tour and tasting, which was hosted by Iain Forteath, the master blender of Tomintoul, our press group travelled and stayed the night at the recently bought country home of Tomintoul House in the Aultmore Estate (previously called Aultmore House).
