IBEC 2011 FINAL REPORT
The International Beverage Exposition and Competition (IBEC 2011) took place in Shenzhen China from 14-16 July. Twelve thousand buyers and others interested in the beverage industry attended, a 33% increase over the previous year. They viewed more than 350 exhibits by beverage producers and suppliers at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center..
Exhibition and competition news was regularly broadcast on local television broadcasts – on CCTV, Shenzhen TV and Southern TV – as well as on the Shenzhen public transit system in an effort to reach a broader potential audience.
IBEC 2011 staff organized evening trips to local restaurants, bars and discos so that participants could see how beverage products are marketed and served in Shenzhen. Tour participants visited the Shenzhen International Wine Hub one evening. On another, they had an opportunity to enjoy Shenzhen nightlife. On the final evening of the IBEC 2011, participants visited the entertainment district of Shekou in Shenzhen.
The signature event was the IBEC 2011 Beverage Competition, held during the exhibition. The competition attracted 400 international entries including a wide variety of alcoholic beverages. Thirty-five beverages were deemed winners at the gold, silver or bronze levels by the independent panels of expert judges. Congratulations to all the award winners! The expert judging team was led by chief judge Amy Mumma, director and founder of the World Wine program of Central Washington University (Bellingham, WA, USA). Professor Mumma is an internationally-known judge, writer, instructor and consultant.
Many people and organizations contributed to the success of the IBEC 2011 exhibition and competition. We thank all of the competition judges and participants; all of the media companies – both domestic and international – including CCTV, Shenzhen TV and Guangdong TV – that are here to promote the proceedings; all of our corporate sponsors – Shenzhen Hand Same, Fine Wine And Liquor and Tian Di No.1– who provided beverages to our participants; as well as all of the many Wen Global Solutions staff members who put in long hours to make this event a reality.

Tomintoul Distillery Tour
Planet Whiskies had a fantastic trip up to the Speyside Whisky region of Scotland in February 2024 to visit Angus Dundee Distillers Tomintoul Distillery within the Cairngorms National Park. Then, after the distillery tour and tasting, which was hosted by Iain Forteath, the master blender of Tomintoul, our press group travelled and stayed the night at the recently bought country home of Tomintoul House in the Aultmore Estate (previously called Aultmore House). Planet Whiskies has made the Tomintoul Distillery, Distillery of the Month for both March/April 2024.
