25 June 2009, Dumgoyne: International sportspeople enjoyed a taste of Scotland’s famed hospitality, with a memorable Gala Dinner and prize presentations to celebrate the conclusion of the hugely successful 29th World Fly Fishing Championships, which took place around the Stirlingshire village of Drymen.

Sponsored by local distillery, Glengoyne, it was the first time the World Fly Fishing Champions has been held in the UK, with 27 teams and 177 international sportspeople taking part. Britain did exceptionally well, with the English team taking gold over all and Scotland securing a well-deserved third place. English team member, Iain Barr also received gold in the individual category.
