Internationally Acclaimed Aberlour Distillery Wins Top Tourism Award
Published Date: 22nd September 2011
Aberlour Distillery, set in the heart of Speyside, is celebrating after being crowned ‘Whisky Visitor Attraction of the Year’ in the Scottish heat of the Icons of Whisky 2012.
The distillery saw off competition from eleven other sites to scoop the prize, cementing its reputation as a must-see Speyside tourist attraction. Famed for its beautiful scenery and exclusive tours, Aberlour Distillery is rated a five-star visitor attraction by Scotland’s national tourism body, Visit Scotland.
The Aberlour Visitor Centre offers a range of tours to suit both whisky connoisseurs and novices, which include tastings of the award-winning Aberlour range and the opportunity to hand-fill and personally register their own bottle of Aberlour cask strength single malt.
Caroline Mitchell, Speyside Visitor Centre Manager for Chivas Brothers, said: “We are delighted to receive this accolade: to be recognised by the Icons of Whisky is a credit to the hard work and passion of each and every member of staff, from greeter to distiller. We are extremely proud of Aberlour Distillery, and look forward to welcoming people through our doors for years to come.”
The Icons of Whisky is an annual competition run by Whisky Magazine designed to celebrate the people and places behind the greatest whiskies in the world.
