The Balvenie Distillery is located in Dufftown, a place not of large scale or population, but quite reputable for being the“whisky capital of the world,” host of the Highland Games, and the native land of Glenfiddich, the Balvenie’s ubiquitous brother whisky. Both are the offspring of William Grant, a strident lover of whisky and all its rare crafts.
In the late 19th century, he left the Mortlach Distillery after learning the art of distilling, bought a barley field beneath the glowering ramparts of Balvenie Castle, and founded the Balvenie Distillery

Summertime is in full bloom, and while the rest of the country cools off with some fancy cocktails, us whisky votarists are soothed by whisky: be it neat, on the rocks, or as a base to fancy cocktails.
In this case, the powerful concoction is guaranteed to “taste” through the most intense ingredients.
Here comes a handy suggestion for the nice refresher from our WoW Austin Expo presenter, Texas’s own Ranger Creek distillery. These gents sure know the best way to cool down during a summer scorcher.

It’s difficult to imagine that somewhere in the mid-20th century the majority of American whisky drinkers didn’t suspect the existence of Irish whiskey.
It’s almost unbelievable that at the beginning of the same century, Ireland was producing 90% of the world’s whiskey (please mind the “e”).
Today, one of the oldest distilled spirits belongs to a special category that is enjoyed not only on St. Patrick’s Day, but on other numerous occasions, as well.

Anybody who knows Scotch has probably heard of and taken a relish sample of Glenmorangie, a pervasive array of supreme Highland Scotches of different maturity grades and maturation methods. But let’s not spend much time talking about the malt from the “glen of great tranquility” (which, by itself, sounds awe-inspiring and Hollywood thrilling).
Rather, let’s take a chance to meet the very own man of Glenmorangie who has come especially for WoW Austin!

Whisky in French is…whisky. Interestingly, the nation so autonomous in its language, including the language of alcoholic beverages, created the terms for everything but whisky: cognac for brandy, champagne for bubbly wine, liqueurs for other spirits. What is it about this Scotch-style product that made them skip the semantics?
Is it the way the French feel about this noble drink of Gaelic origin, or the confidence that they can produce a Scotch-style product?
