Tamdhu’s Spain-to-Speyside journey comes alive in a new Whisky Sour Cocktail recipe

Summer drinking… plus Whisky Sour Day on 25 August

When it comes to summer cocktails, whisky is the new rum. No longer just kept for winter evenings, whisky cocktails are winners throughout the summer too. Enjoy the complex taste notes of a fine whisky such as Tamdhu which is the hero spirit for drinks that are elegant, different, and delicious.

The latest original cocktail recipe from Tamdhu Single Malt Speyside Scotch Whisky has just landed. This version of a classic Whisky Sour recipe is designed to draw out the unique, sherried taste notes of Tamdhu, the only Scotch whisky to be matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry oak casks. These casks are the finest - and most expensive – used by the whisky distillers, ensuring that the whisky available now is as beautifully crafted as it has been for over a century.

Tamdhu is entirely natural in colour and is distilled and matured on the banks of the River Spey in Scotland using casks from Jerez in Spain. This ‘Spain to Speyside’ odyssey reflects true dedication to excellence.

To complement the smooth, exclusively sherried notes and Spanish connections which single out this whisky brand, the Tamdhu mixologist has created a whisky sour using Tamdhu 12 Year Old and Spanish PX Sherry. The Tamdhu PX Sour

Ingredients

• 50ml Tamdhu 12 Year Old
• 20ml Fresh Lemon Juice
• 10ml Sugar Syrup
• 20ml PX Sherry
• 1 Egg White (or for a vegan option use Aguafaba, Vegan Egg White substitute, or Cocktail Foamer)

To garnish – Angostura bitters (optional)

Method

Add ice to a shaker and pour in all the ingredients except the Angostura, if using. Shake and strain. Remove the ice; pour back into the shaker and dry shake (without ice); then double strain into your glass, serving the cocktail either neat or on the rocks. Add an optional Angostura swirl to decorate.
