Scapa Scotch Whisky Distillery and Visitor Centre
Scapa Scotch Whisky Distillery was built in 1885 and is situated on the Orkney Islands near the shoreline of Scapa Flow and is part of the Chevis Brothers portfolio. It has recently opened a visitor centre with hourly tours from Monday to Saturday with Sunday tours also available. The cost of the tours are £7.50 and are available to over 18 only (more details below).
The distillery produces Scapa 10 Year Old Single Malt Whisky and Scapa 12 Year Old Single Malt Whisky. The packaging for the 16 Year Old malt that come out of this distillery was redesigned in 2009 and show nature colours and beauty of the Orcadian landscape.
The malts that come out of this distillery are uncommonly sweet and silky which is very unusual for an Island Malt. The key markets for all the malts that come out of this distillery are as follows ;France, Germany, UK, USA, Canada and the global travel retail of duty free.
This distillery received an award for it's malt in 2009 when it was awarded a Gold medal at both the 2009 International Spirits Challenge and the International Wine and Spirit Competition.
Visitor Centre details at Scapa Distillery
Scapa Distillery visitor centre is opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 0900 to 1700 with tours available from 0930 and every hour until 1530. Sunday 1200 to 1700 with tours 1230 to 1530.
Tour price is GBP7.50 per person and guests are advised to book with a maximum of 10 per tour. Contact number is 01856 873269.
