Glen Mhor Scotch Whisky Distillery

Glen Mhor Scotch Whisky Distillery was built in 1892 in the Speyside region of Scotland, but closed in 1983. The location of this distillery was just North West of Inverness. Famously the water used in this distillery was from Loch Ness and maybe that is where the Glen Mhor range got its bite from.

The building at Glen Mhor was demolished in 1986 after the distillery closed in 1983 and since then the land is being used as a supermarket. What a waste.

There is still Glen Mhor Single Malts going around and these can mostly be found by looking up independent bottlers.

Tomintoul Distillery Tour

Tomintoul Distillery

Planet Whiskies had a fantastic trip up to the Speyside Whisky region of Scotland in February 2024 to visit Angus Dundee Distillers Tomintoul Distillery within the Cairngorms National Park. Then, after the distillery tour and tasting, which was hosted by Iain Forteath, the master blender of Tomintoul, our press group travelled and stayed the night at the recently bought country home of Tomintoul House in the Aultmore Estate (previously called Aultmore House). Planet Whiskies has made the Tomintoul Distillery, Distillery of the Month for both March/April 2024.
