Bushmills, County Antrim, 16th May 2024: Bushmills Irish Whiskey, from the world's oldest licensed whiskey distillery, today announces the release of its ultra-premium 15 Year Old single malt. This unmistakably smooth, triple distilled new expression is exclusive to Great Britain and shoppable on Amazon initially from May, prior to its availability across several mainstream retailers. 

The exquisite 15 Year Old single malt has Bushmills’s distinctive floral and fruity signature style that’s been unchanged for centuries. However, unlike the brand’s traditionally sherry-inspired expressions, this decadent new offering has been matured in first and second-fill bourbon barrels for at least 14years, including a finish of up to twelve months in rare, aged cognac casks. 

This exceptional French cognac cask finish gives the whiskey a deliciously lighter profile. The liquid – bottled in vibrant gold packaging to match its lavish gold colour – offers hints of gentle toasted oak and soft spice on the nose, and warm vanilla with sensational caramelised pear richness on the palate.

Speaking of the story of this special expression, master blender Alex Thomas comments:“We’ve approached this 15 Year Old in a really experimental way, using whiskey aged only in bourbon barrels to give a wonderful vanilla sweetness. Then we’ve layered on complex fruity notes from the finest oak casks sourced from the ancient forests of central France and used to age rare cognac by a small family-run cognac maker.”

She goes on to explain: “For several years, the cognac soaks deep into the fine-grain of these luxurious casks before they’re ready to be emptied and sent to us at the Old Bushmills Distillery. It’s a lavish and really exciting process!” 

This new expression epitomises Bushmills’s thirst for the uncommon and unwavering commitment to never standing still – sentiments that have been at the heart of the brand since 1608, when its pursuit of perfection began.
